PHASES OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE PHASE 1 - SYMPTOMATIC RELIEF Most people assume that if they are pain free, then their problem has been resolved. Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health. In fact, pain and other symptoms generally appear once the condition has become advanced. When you begin chiropractic care, pain is usually the first symptom to resolve, even though the underlying condition still remains. PHASE 2 - STABILIZATION During the correction/restorative phase of care, you will not have to receive adjustments as often as you did in the relief phase of care. Depending on your circumstances, you may begin a program of exercises and stretching to help accelerate your healing. Do not be discouraged if you experience a flare up of symptoms or a set back to your care. This is normal. Your body is not fully healed and the area is not stabilized. This phase can take from two to three weeks to several months depending on the severity of your condition. PHASE 3 - MAINTENANCE When chiropractic care become a routine or part of your lifestyle, you can avoid many of the aches and pains, your joints will last longer and you will be able to engage in more of the activities you enjoy. |
